Suggest Directions To Use Ortho Evra While On Patch

I am on ortho evra (the patch) birth control to regulate my periods. i have been on the patch for over a year, and i just started my period a week early...should i take off my current patch and apply a new one my next start date? so next monday? i put my patch on a few hours late this week. why am i starting a week early?
