Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is Lyrica addicting? If I take Gabapentin in lieu of due to cost, how is it dosed? I have been told it is not a long acting drug. I currently am given 600mg gabapentin twice a day, I feel like I should take it 3x a day at a lower dose. It is for me a Mood stabilizer and anti anxiety as well as Fibromyalgia.
The dose of Gabapentin is at first 300 milligrams (mg) as a single dose in the evening. Your doctor may adjust your dose as needed. However, the dose is usually not more than 1800 mg per day.
Take this medicine only as directed by your doctor. Do not take more of it, do not take it more often, and do not take it for a longer time than your doctor ordered. If you do so may increase the chance of side effects.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr AJEET SINGH, General & Family Physician
