Suggest Dosage Of Allegra To Be Taken For Rashes And Hives On Body

Yesterday I broke out with a rash n hives, reasons are unknown. My doctor put me on prednisone (20mg 3x per day), also told me to use an antihistamine. Benadryl makes me drowsy so I purchased Allegra. Am I able to take another dose in 12 hours instead of waiting the full 24 hours should the hives return?

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of rashes and hives on body which occurs when body give response to some external stimuli or some kind of allergen. Introduction of allergen to skin cause release of some chemical which make the skin to as well. Need not to worry. They are usually harmless until they cause problem like breathing problems, swallowing problems. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to :-

- To find out the trigger factor which is a complicated thing , But the prevention of hives is the best thing one can do . So try to avoid the trigger factor .

- Give cold compresses to reduce itchiness . Give cold compresses several times a day .

- Start with single dose of allegra or any other antihistamine medication.

Consult dermatologist for proper diagnosis . Doctor may prescribe steroid therapy. Until then continue taking antihistamine drug 'benadryl'.
