Suggest Dosage Of Foods With High Vitamin K For Heart Ailment
My husband is being treated with warfarin for afib following heart surgery and the placement of a pace maker. We have been cautioned about eating foods with high vitamin K but told if he is consistent that adjustments can be made in dosage of the anti-coagulant. What I can t find out is where there is a list of how much(amount like a cup measure etc.) is a dose .
Hello welcome to HCM. I have read your question and understand your concerns. Warfarin works by inhibit vitamin K, and increases bleeding tendency. So avoidance of vitamin k contain foods should be avoided.
Vitamin k contained foods are -
Cabbage, cauliflower, carrot, spinach like food should be avoided. Green tea is also not recommended. All fortified foods that contain vitamin k should be avoided.
You should check your PT and INR every 2 monthly. In atrial fibrillations target INR should be between 1.8-2.2.
