Suggest Effective Drug For Schizophrenia

I m a psychologist. I have a patient w/schizophrenia. He recently has been regressing. His primary care MD wants to prescribe Cogentin. I m at a loss. I think atypical antipsychotics would be more appropropriate. What do you think and what is considered the drug of choice today?

I really appreciate your concern, I am working in internal medicine and some time in emergency medicine, so I would say that some time in primary care certain antipsychiatric medicine being tried just on tentative basis which are less potent and can be used in other indication beside functional disease, it is all hope this information helps, take care and have a nice day.
