Suggest Effective Medication For Cough With Phlegm
Yes, i have constant, continuous cough and white, viscus plelgm/sputum that i expectorate everyday. often after i eat. often in the morning. my throat is hyper sensative to nuts, pepper, etc. because of all the coughing. I have seasonal alergies and take Zyrtec once in a while. this has been for years and it s getting worse.
Understanding your concern. As per your query cough with phlegm is due to severe upper respiratory tract infection. The infection is probably a strep throat. You may have lung infection or bronchitis. I would suggest you to start with course of antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs. Avoid giving cold beverages. Do warm saline gargles with pinch of salt water. Take expectorants. Steam inhalation is very effective for you. I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist without any delay . Doctor may order blood test , throat swab test or virus culture test. You should get an x ray of the chest and Immunoglobulin G levels checked for further treatment. Doctor may prescribe antibiotics ( amoxicillin or penicillin ) at least for 10 days along with decongestants and mucolytic agents . For now do warm saline rinses , take rest. Go for complete blood count and platelet count to rule out any thrombocytopenia and any hidden systemic pathology. Mast cell stablizers such as sodium cromoglycate is effective to prevent infection. You should avoid hot, sharp and spicy foods. .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
