Suggest Eye Tests To Detect Vision Deficiency

My doctor asked if I ever had Lazy eye and I said no why and he said because my left eye is being strained and working a little more to focus when it came to my eye exam. I worked all day on a computer for 8 hours and then went to this eye exam, so I think that didn t help. I do not wear glasses. He said I need readers for when I am going to sit on a computer for hours or read a book to help adjust and fix the focus on my left eye and make it stronger. I am 28 and he said I won t need glasses or contacts the rest of my life. Can you comment on this? I feel like I don t want to wear them because they will make my vision worse. Sometimes when I get home from work and text on my phone my eyes sometimes feel strained and blurry for a second and I need to look away.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, the vision detection is best carried out by help of Snellen's chart. The chart is mentioning various alphabets in decreasing size from top to bottom as per the specific guidelines and requirements of WHO officials. You are supposed to stand at a distance of 6 meter or 18 feet from the chart display region and straight line vision evaluation from 18 feet distance is checked and recorded. The reading ranges from 6/6 to downwards.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
