Hello, Thanks for posting your query on Healthcare Magic...
* Brief Answer: Resting , sublingual nitrates or skin patch are good measures to control anginal attacks.
*Explanation: My opinion is that ischemic heart disease is an important condition that needs good plan of management first of all anti ischemic medications such as antiplatelets and antihyperlipidemics are crucial. then regular follow ups with a cardiologist is a must to modify your treatment and see if any new findings in patient's heart condition exist. Of course healthy diet with low salt and fat content and regular exercising do help in such condition. avoiding stressful conditions and smoking is nonnegotiable.if any new chest pain develops or symptoms or signs of heart failure or even palpitations present then coronary angiography plus or minus stenting may be needed then.
I suggest my patients the following : adhere to medications and take from one to three sublingual nitrates tablets if anginal attack happened, then check in ER if not resolved .
The information provided by you is not sufficient to provide a good opinion.
If someone comes to me with this condition I would ask them about medical and laboratory investigations done.
If you have any further questions I will be happy to help, If not, you can close the discussion and rate the answer. Wish you good health.
