Suggest Home Treatment For A Opened Boil On Inner Thigh

Adult son has boil on inner thigh that he just opened by picking at it. He s taking a hot shower and Ill clean with alcohol for him. I have a tube of silver sulfadiazine cream 1%. I m planning to use a 2x2 and dress the boil. Does this sound reasonable for home treatment at this time?
