Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi Dr. Grief, I am a 62-year-old woman who is tried desperately for years to quit smoking. I ve tried everything from the patch, hypnotism, acupuncture, and Chantix but I just can t quit and I m feeling the effects of it. I don t think I have the ability doing to quit by myself. I just don t know how to stop. I ve tried so hard but nothing has worked. Can you give any advise?
You will perhaps need to combine the methods you have tried. Bupropion is another option you may try. It helps reduce craving and makes it easier to quit. I wonder why you did not benefit from Chantix. It usually works very well when taken correctly.
Best wishes.
