Hi,

You have very good results of cholesterol on Lipitor. Actually your liver enzimes are not that high to withdraw Lipitor. There is no sence to change to simvastatin as it is not safer and is old generation.
Unfortunately the information you provide is not enough to evaluate your cardiovascular risks. If you were my patients with high risk I will try to continue with Lipitor 20mg and follow up liver enzimes. If there is intermediate risk, I would try to lower Lipitor dose to 10 mg with strict diet and follow cholesterol levels.

Hope I could help you

Cardiologist Dr. Rajesh Teli's  Response
hello,i have gone through your query. Thanks for using HCM.
first of all your total cholesterol has come down to 127 from 260 suggesting good response to lipitor 20mg.you may reduce the dose of lipitor to 10 mg and recheck cholesterol(preferably whole lipid profile) to confirm the dose of lipitor after 4 weeks.your high SGPT suggests effect of lipitor on liver.,though level upto 100 is acceptable,in any case you are going to reduce the dose so it will be favourable for liver as well.why do you want to switch over to simvastatin?
you should continue lipitor though you may get cheaper brand like liponorm or torvason, if cost is the issue.
My best wishes
