Anyone can plz explain the differences among all these tests, coz its so bewildering....As a proper solution will always require a proper diagnosis. I hope i get my question ansewred at the earliest. General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear
I understand your concern
I would suggest to go for TSH, free T4 and free T3.
TSH is secreted by the anterior pituitary and stimulate the thyroid for secretion of thyroid hormone fT4 and fT3.
Free T4 and T3 is secreted by the thyroid.
If thyroid hormone is low then it negative feed back is less and cause High TSH secretion.
Free T4 and T3 is active hormone and give exact idea about the thyroid status. (more accurate than total T4 and T3)
Total T3 and T4 is protein bound and not active.
It level varies with protein level, sickness, estrogen level and some drugs.
So I would suggest to go for TSH, fT4 and fT3 to diagnose the hypothyroid in fasting test in NABL accredited laboratory.
Consult the endocrinologist for proper dose of the thyronorm.
Hope this may help you
