Suggest Medication For A Sore And Swollen Finger Knuckle

My ring finger knuckle is sore and swollen, as is the area below the cuticle. There is redness and the finger is sore to the touch on the top but not on the palm side. I didn't do anything to it that I can remember and I don't wear a ring on that finger. What could cause slight edema in one finger?
