Suggest Medication For Androgenetic Areata

Hi, I am suffering from AGA(front side). I am 31 yr old and i was using one Keraglo men tablets per day and using ketoconazole 2 percent shampoo from arcolane(recommended by first doctor). The hair fall was kind of stopped after using it for 4-5 months. When i visited another doctor, he suggested me to take Finpecia. Which medicine is better and how long i need to continue these medicine?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
Androgenic areata is premature male type of baldness, mostly occurring due to androgenic hormone and its metabolite called 'dihydrotestosterone'.
What doctor has prescribed is alright and would help you in your condition.
1. Keraglo contains 'Gamma Lenolenic Acid', which is known to be an essential fatty acid helping to stop hair loss as well as hair growth.
2. Ketoconazole helps to fight dandruff and is known to keep scalp healthy.
3. Finpecia contains Finasteride, which is an 5-alpha reductase inhibitor and it is indicated for the treatment of male pattern hair loss.
Apart from this, you need to use topical application of Minoxidil 5% solution twice daily. It will take about 4 to 6 months to see the results. Hence, you need to be patient.
Thereafter, you need to continue using it for about 2 to 5 years.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
