Suggest Medication For Bilateral Conjunctivitis

I was treated for bilateral conjunctivitis 3 weeks ago. I have had 2 prescriptions filled containing steroids because when I was seen my eyes were so swollen and red. when the 1st round of meds ran out my conjunctivitis was not fully gone so was given the same script. Again, I finished my script 6 days ago and have woken up for the last 3 days with a little discharge and severely itchy red and watery eyes.

Ophthalmologist 's  Response
Hello dear,
Conjunctivitis in general can be of viral, bacterial or allergic reasons.

---STEROIDS--- work well only with allergic symptoms like itching, redness without discharge but for bacterial conjunctivitis it helps initially but worsens later.

with discharge from eye and possible stickiness of eyelids in the mornings confirm some form of bacterial conjunctivitis--- for which you need to stop using steroids and start with good antibiotic eye drops such as moxifloxacin eyedrops (1 drop 2hourly for 1 week) along with nepafenac or ketorolac eye drops (1 drop 6 hourly for 1 week) after consulting your ophthalmologist.

Hope this helps.
