Hello,

If your child is having cough and fever but is feeding well and active as usual very likely he is having a viral infection. In this case all that is needed is to make sure he is eating and drinking well and give him plenty of rest and carefully watch him for any worsening of symptoms.
If your child is less active than usual and he is not eating or drinking well he will need a visit with the doctor to rule out bacterial infections such as lung infection.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
