Suggest Medication For Diabetes As Metformin Gives Breathing Problem

I was using metformin 500 and amaryl 1 mg and found too much problem for breathing. So I stopped these drugs since 1 month and now sugar level 165/ 220. Is diamicron is advisable? Or which medicine is better. I am diabetic since 1 year. Kindly advise.
