Suggest Medication For Excess Mucus After A Cough

Was put on prednisone , proair , albuteral , zpak , cough medicine w/ codeine , but I still have so much mucus , my breathing sounds are rattle rales , wheezing , and my O 2 is at 93 , I am a medical tech , I know as soon as I get winded I won t be able to breath , how can I get rid of mucus , tried mucenex ,no good still have 2 days of pred to go any suggestions ? Been to pcp 3 tx !

Thanks for your question on HCM.
I can understand your problem.
In my opinion you should consult pulmonologist and get done chest x ray first , to rule out lower respiratory tract infection (LRTI). Because you are still having symptoms even after 3 days of symptoms. This suggest possibility of pneumonia (LRTI) more.
And mucus production with wheezing can be seen in pneumonia.
So chest x ray is needed to rule out pneumonia.
If consolidation is present than get done sputum culture and sensitivity to identify the causative organism and guide the antibiotic therapy.
Haphazard use of antibiotics can lead to drug resistance and delay in recovery. So better to consult pulmonologist and first diagnose yourself and start appropriate treatment.
