Hello. Thanks for asking from HCM.

I can understand your concern. You should ask your brother to stop self medication. Dispirit abuse can cause kidney damage, bleeding tendencies like continuous nonstop bleeding after injury, ulcers in stomach. Raised enzyme may be due to it. It should come to normal level after stopping it.

Now coming to his complaint of headache, you have to provide more details about his headache so that we can reach upto some diagnosis. you can provide more details like his age? any history of use of glasses? headache area focal or diffuse? any relation with work/studies/stress? any other associated symptoms like vomiting/visual blurring/burning?, by asking another question.

Meanwhile you can ask him to follow few tips to avoid headache

: Wear glasses if he is already using it. Do not read or write without wearing glasses
: Avoid bright sunlight or any bright light
: Maintain sleep routine. Daily sleep for 8 hours at least.
: Avoid light night TV/laptop/computer work
: Avoid mental and physical stress.
: Daily exercise.
: If he is having hypertension or history of hypertension in family (BP>140/90mm Hg), get his BP checked. If high, show him to physician and start medication
: Maintain hydration by drinking 2.5 to 3 litre fluids.

Medication like painkillers should be started only after reaching upto some diagnosis. Hope it will help you. Still confusion or no relief, you can consult doctor.

Thanks. Take care.
