Suggest Medication For Infection Post Tooth Extraction

Have had one of my back teeth taken out 5 days ago. It got infected four days ago and I have been sucking garlic, mouth wash and cleaning to get rid of it. Reduced the infection somewhat. Two days ago, the nostril on the same side began producing yellow mucus but I do not have a cold. I now feel the infection higher upy face, just below the eye on the same side of the face. Can I the nitrofurentin to get didn't it?

Hi.
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that you have got your upper tooth extracted which has led to perforation of the floor of the maxillary sinus of that particular side as many a times the roots of upper teeth lie very close or at times into the sinus and extraction of tooth can lead to perforation of sinus floor and formation of ORO-ANTRAL FISTULA and there is communication between the sinus and mouth and as the sinus drain through the nose, so any infection in sinus due to it can lead to discharge through nose..
It seems that there is sinus infection leading to discharge from nose..

You should immediately consult an Oral Surgeon and get evaluated along with an x ray so that he can rule out the exact cause of infection an can advise antibiotics like Augmentin 625 mg thrice a day for reducing infection..
Along with it if there is persisting opening of the sinus through the extraction socket it has to be closed by buccal flap which is stitched into the socket and can be performed successfully by an oral surgeon..

Hope this information helps..
