Suggest Medication For Pain Due To Sores In Mouth

Hello i got braces yesterday and i am still in ALOT of pain. I have a bunch of sores in my mouth i have been taking tylenol and used a mouth rinse to ease the pain. Are there any other ways to help my pain? I weight 90lbs and am 12 years old, I have no serious medical background.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...

As per your complain and presentation of symptoms there seems to be Traumatic Ulcers in your mouth due to injury to the tongue with the braces..
First thing I would like to tell you is that get evaluated by your treating dentist/Orthodontist that whether there is any pointed area over the braces or any sharp end of wire protruding into the mouth that is injuring the mucosas and tongue and causing ulcer formation..
Correction has to be done if any sharp areas present..

For relief from pain and inflammation you can take Ibuprofen for relief..
Take a multivitamin tablet daily for 15 days..
Apply a numbing gel containing Lignocaine over the ulcers..
Gargling with a numbing Mouthwash will relieve..
Sucking ice pops and gargle with cold water will also help..
Avoid hot and spicy foods..
If severe inflammation is present a short course of steroids can be taken..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
