Suggest Medication For Pain In Left Side Of Rib Post Injury

I had a bad fall down some stairs two weeks ago....in the past 5 days the pain in my left side of ribs has escalated. Why would that be? I just came from Xray and nothing is broken, just badly bruised....but why did it take so long to feel the pain? Christine
