Suggest Medication For Pain Management

I have lots of pain, been on percocet for about 10 yrs, not working anymore, they gave me pentazocine/ naloxone to try. Is that a better pain reiiever ? I have neck pain from major neck surgery for cancer, was told pain will always be there because a lot of small nerves were cut. thank you, John
