Suggest Medication For Painful Gash On The Head

Hi, I hit my head very hard last night on a corner edge of my counter. I literally saw stars and got a bad headache afterwards. I have a bump on my head now with a gash and it was bleeding last night upon hitting it. I am very tired now and do not feel like myself.

Hi,
Welcome to HCM!

I am sorry to learn about the incident.

Did you lose consciousness for even sometime? Or did you vomit after the incident?
If either of the two occurred, I'd strongly advice you to visit a doctor and get a CT scan done.

Apart from that, take a TT (tetanus) injection if you haven't had one in the last 5 years.
Make sure your wound is clean and dressed regularly.
I'd also suggest you to take an antibiotic course to prevent any infection.
Painkillers such as Diclofenac might help you deal with the pain.

Other than this, there is nothing to worry about and you will get better soon.

Hope your query is answered. Feel free to ask if you have any doubts.

If not, you may close the discussion and rate my answers.

Wish you good health.
With regards,
Dr. Sridhar Reddy
