General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Heel spur is a bony protrusion caused due to calcium deposit on the under side of heel. The first treatment options include exercise, custom-made orthotics, anti-inflammatory / pain killer medications, and cortisone injections. If conservative treatments fail, surgery may be necessary. If symptoms persist even after multiple steroid injections, surgical removal of the bony protrusion may be required.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
