Suggest Medication For Paroxysmal Nocturnal Dyspnea While Being Treated For Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis

YYYY@YYYY My husband has been diagnosed with IPF and is currently suffering through coughing attacks that he believes are related to PND. He has tried the over the counter allergy meds on advice from his pulmonary doctors but nothing seems to help. He has finally agreed to see a physician but I am not sure whether to schedule with an allergist or an EENT. He recently has suffered from dizzy spells and/or blurred vision that lasts only a few minutes when he turns his head and then turns back quickly which I thought could be related to his inner ear. He does not complain of pressure in his ears or sinuses. Do you have any suggestions about the medication for PND or to help his coughing subside? He constantly uses cough suppressants. Thank you for any advice you have.

Pulmonologist 's  Response
Hello,

As you explain the situation he should see a pulmonologist specialist at least and then he or she will decide if it is from PND and what to do further.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Jnikolla, Pulmonologist
