Suggest Medication For Persistent Sores Around The Mouth
Thanks, I've had a sore around my mouth acting like a cold sore for about a month. It doesn't completely crust over like previous sores I've had. It starts with little tiny pimples and they burst. Now there is a second sore coming. I've tried Abreva, Camphor phy..., and neither seem to get rid of them. Can I try a triamcinolone cream that I have from a previous rash on my body?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain the symptoms does not look like rashes but are more of pointing towards herpes simplex virus infection causing cold sores.. You should consult an Infectious medicine specialist and get evaluated and if viral infection is suspected certain tests like swab culture, antigen-antibody reaction and polymerase chain reaction can help in confirmation.. In case if it comes out to be negative then other conditions like allergic reaction, fungal infection, bacterial infection can be looked for and treated accordingly.. In case if it is cold sores as you pointed the history of previous eruptions then you need to take anti-viral oral medications like Acyclovir, Valacyclovir and also topical applications..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora
