Suggest Medication For Round Patch Of Acne Near The Nose Under Eye

Daughter 19 years old has 6 - 7 mm rounded patch of acne under right eye and next to nose .. She is home from college and unable to get appt with Derm. Rest of face is clean.. Has stopped wearing glasses and assures me she doesn t lean or play with it.. As a DDS was thinking of Doxycycline for two weeks and if doesn t clear up, off to Dermatologist No allergies and otherwise healthy. Not sexually active at this time.. Thanks

Perioral dermatitis is a common skin rash that mainly affects young women. The rash affects the skin around the mouth. Use of a steroid cream on the face seems to trigger the condition in many cases. Treatment includes stopping the use of all creams and ointments to the face, including cosmetics and topical steroids. A 6- to 12-week course of antibiotics may be advised, which often clears the rash.
