Suggest Medication For Swelling In The Lips

Hi. I accidentally cut my bottom lip shaving on the early hours of Wednesday and i put undiluted dettol mixed with water and a cotton bud on my bottom lip and I then proceeded to put a plaster on my bottom lip for a few hours and everything was ok. But when I wake up today, my bottom lip feels swollen and dry..... What should I do?

Hello,

As per your query, you have symptoms of swelling in the lips after getting skin cut which is due to inflammatory response leading to angioedema.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to do:

- Do Betadine rinses twice a day
- Apply cold compresses
- Avoid hot and spicy food
- Take proper course of anti-inflammatory medications along with antibiotics

Consult dentist for proper oral prophylaxis if symptoms keeps on persisting and start treatment accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
