Hallow Dear,

Since you are just 7 weeks pregnant, you can opt for Medical Termination of Pregnancy.

WHO has recommended two regimes for termination at this stage:
1. Tab. Mifepristone followed after 24-48 hours by Tab. Misoprostol. The dose of Misoprostol is half for termination of pregnancy under 7 weeks of gestation.
2. Misoprostol only regime.

These are prescription medicines and should be taken only against Obstetrician's prescription and by advice. Your Obstetrician will instruct you about the dosage and routes of administration of these medicines.

Usually the abortion starts within 24 hours, however occasionally, the process may be delayed up to 7 days. It is advocated to have a follow up visit to Obstetrician after 7 days.

Completeness of the abortion may be confirmed by ultrasonography.

These medicines cause developmental abnormalities in the baby. Hence if they fail to terminate the pregnancy, the decision should not be reverted to continuation of pregnancy; he pregnancy should then be terminated by surgical method like MVA aspiration or so.

I hope this helps you.

Hallow Dear,

Though according to WHO recommendations, you can safely terminate the pregnancy by medicines - Mifepristone followed by Misoprostol - up to 9 weeks of pregnancy, in India, such medical termination of pregnancy is legal only up to 7 weeks of pregnancy.

These medicines are prescription medicines and should be obtained only by Gynaecologist's prescription. They should be consumed in prescribed dosage, according to the prescribed schedule and through the prescribed route of administration.

These medicines cause developmental abnormalities in the baby. Hence, if the medicines fail to terminate the pregnancy, you have to undergo surgical procedure like MVA aspiration or suction evacuation. A follow up visit 7 days after the last tablet of Misoprostol is advised.

In capital city like Hyderabad, there are many authorized centres of MTP. I may suggest you Geeta Maternity Home at Barkatpura which I have heard is a very good hospital.

I hope this helps you.
