Hallow Dear,

Unwanted 72 is a Levonorgetrel pill which is a post coital emergency contraception. It is not an abortifacient medicine.

The positive pregnancy test indicates that she is pregnant. If you do not want to continue with pregnancy, it can be safely and effectively terminated by Tab. Mifepristone followed after 24-48 hours by Tab. Misoprostol. However, these medicines are 'prescription medicines'. Get a prescription with the instructions of dosage, schedule and route of administration of these medicines from your Gynaecologist. These medicines terminate the pregnancy effectively and safely up to 9 weeks (63 days) of gestation. Usually the abortion is completed within 24 hours but not later than 3 days after the last dose of Misoprostol.

Alternatively, Misoprostol only regime may be followed. These also are prescription medicine. In this regime, Tab. Misoprostol are repeated every 3-12 hours up to 3 doses.

These medicines cause developmental abnormalities in the baby. Hence, if the medicines fail, the pregnancy should not be continued; it should be terminated by surgical method like MVA or so.

I hope this helps you.

Hello dear
Understand your concern.
Best medicine for terminating early intrauterine pregnancy (Up to 9 week) is mifepristone followed by misoprostol after 24-48 hour. It is gynecologist prescribed drug and should be taken under expert guidance and supervision of gynecologist as it causes serious excessive bleeding and incomplete abortion. Usg is required before and after using pills.
Bleeding after unwanted pills (Emergency contraceptive pill) generally not occur or period may be delayed or spotting may occur. I would like to suggest gynecologist and go for USG and if viable gestational sac is there go for medical termination by mifepristone followed by misoprostol.
Use safer sex practice to avoid unwanted pregnancies.
Hope this may help you
Best regards
Dr. Sagar
