Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, Please suggest me a off the rack medicine for treating vaginal yeast infection. Also please help me understand the reason and preventive measures. I have been feeling itchy and have white discharge which is thick and granular in nature ... Also it feels sore. What is the cure time. Is it something chronic?
You seem to be suffering from Vaginitis. If I was your treating physician I would perform a vaginal swab culture and urine culture first of all to reach the confirm diagnosis and its type.....it may be either of three ( bacterial, fungal or trichomoniasis). then my treatment plan would be according to the culture reports. I would recommend an oral course of tab. Fluconazole once daily or vaginal clotrimazole cream if it is fungal which is the most common. I would strongly recommend that you consult a gynaecologist for this problem as this medicine can have side effects and the dosage has to be monitored carefully. Meanwhile take extra care of hygiene of genital area, wear cotton undergarments and frequents changing of tampons.
I hope this answers your query. Please feel free to contact HCM again if you have any concerns. Wishing you good health.
