Suggest Medication To Manage Break Through Pain

I need to ask my pain mgmt Dr for an for a stronger pain medicine. I would like to know how to go about asking. I don t need more each day. I would like to keep the Percocet for break through pain. I ve been taking the Percocet for over 2 years and they don t seem to help like they once did.

Hi,

Percocet is a Paracetamol/Oxycodone combination. You might have developed tolerance and that may be the reason it has got no effects now.

You can try newer analgesics like Tramadol or Gabapentin which is quite effective for chronic pain conditions.

If pain persists despite taking usual analgesics you can consult your physician and opt for stronger ones like Morphine or Ketamine.
