Suggest Medicine For A Insect Bite That Is Spread For About A Inch In Diameter

My son (25 years old) woke up this morning with a possible insect bite on the back of his upper arm. It looks like a small bite mark, but is surrounded by a large reddened area, several inches in diameter. It feels very warm to the touch and kind of hard.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems like an allergic reaction to the poisonous toxin released by the insect under the skin of your son while sting and it has led to formation of an inflamed, indurated, red and warm area at the site of insect bite.
He can take anti-allergic medicines like Levocetrizine or Benadryl for relief from pain and redness as well as reduction in size of the reddened and indurated area.
He can take anti-inflammatoy painkiller Ibuprofen and do cold compresses..
Apply a steroid ointment to reduce redness and warmness..
Do not scratch with nails if there is itching as it can cause infection..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
