Suggest Medicine For Painful And Swollen Ankle

What causes my ankles to swell. After a workout class at 5:00 on Tuesdays and Thursdays the next morning my legs are sore to the touch and then in the evening my ankles are swollen. This is extreme to me. I have participated in this class for about 6 months. I took a week off and went to Mexico ... came back with Montezuma s revenge and then this problem with swelling started. Can these things be related?
