Hi, I am 24 with very bad acne. I ve tried all the face wash possible and it makes it worse. I ve had dermatologist prescribe me medicine that still didn t help. I ve tried proactive and everything, even home remedies ...can someone help?? I have oily/dry skin. My dad has had the same issue all his life, I have his large pores as well. I don t know what to do. Some please help. As for using stuff with Ben. Peroxide. It gives me severe Burns on my face. Even just used once every 2 weeks or once a month. Help!!
There are different treatments for acne depending on the severity. If all the local ointments do not help then oral treatment is indicated. The last resort and quite effective is isotretinoin oral tablets. These need to be taken by a doctor (with prescription) and need good follow up with blood tests to make sue the patient is not developing side effects due to its use. If it is used in women, they need oral contraception and use of condoms to prevent pregnancy as this drug can have very bad effects on the pregnancy and the baby can develop bad deformities in case of pregnancy.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj General & Family Physician
