Ophthalmologist 's  Response
Your husband is suffering from Adenoviral/Epidemic conjunctivitis which is highly contagious. the yellow substance is organised pus and exudates forming a thick layer called pseudo membrane which needs removal with forceps. He needs a course of antibiotic- steroid drops with eye ointment at bedtime along with oral anti histamines. The disease may take 1-4 weeks depending on the severity. There can be involment of black part of the eye leading to small coin shaped spots which can reduce the vision.Hence consult ophthalmologist/cornea specialist for membrane removal and to rule out keratitis.
