Suggest Medicine For Sore Throat And Swallowing Difficulty
Hello, I ve had a sore throat for a little over a week. It went away for 2 days and then returned. It is painful when I swallow. I do not have my tonsils any longer. They were removed when I was 13. I also noticed that I have swollen bumps on the far back of my tongue. I do not have a chronic cough, but my inner ear hurts. I have been taking ibuprofen to relieve the discomfort. I m just a little worried, I ve never had a sore throat for so long. Any ideas?
HiYour symptoms suggest the diagnosis of pharyngitis.Antibiotics such as amoxyclav or azithromycin should be taken.Betadine mouth gargling and brushing the teeth twice daily is recommended.Lozenges can also be used since they soothe the throat.Hope that was helpful.Let me know if i can assist you further.RegardsDr.Saranya RamadossGeneral and Family Health Physician
