Suggest Medicine To Cure Migraine Headaches

I have migraine headaches, and have had them since I was a child. I thought Imitrex was my life saver when I started taking it some twenty years ago. Now I believe it will trigger another headache. This week I gave myself an Imitrex shot, but 5hrs later the headache was really bad. I took an Imitrex pill and the headache went away. I woke up with HA again this morning (the next day) I feel I am having too many headaches----more than I have ever had previously. I do see a neurologist. Botox has not helped. What do you think? Hi

Imitrex (sumatriptan) is a good drug to treat migraine attacks. You should use it only if you have headaches and start it as soon as the headache starts. It does not help if you take it when you do not have headaches.
To prevent migraine headaches you will need to take preventive treatment which can be different medications: beta-blockers (metoprolol), antidepressants (amitriptiline or sertraline), antiepileptics (topiramate, valrpic acid), etc.

You will need to talk with your doctor on which medication is better to be started in your case and you will need regular follow up as well to make sure the treatment is giving the right effect.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
