Hi I am Dr.Shreyash Mehta, MD Community Medicine

I hope my answer will solve your query

Sir, you have been on tablet Telmisartan 20 mg. and your physician has advised Tab. Prolomet XL 50 (contains 50mg of Metoprolol, in extended release) from last days.

Sir, are you regular with the medicine?
Are you taking them daily at the prescribed time?
Are you minimizing the salt intake since these 10 days?
Are avoid high salt diet, high fat diet and alcohol ?
Are you avoiding stress since 10 days?
Do you go for a 30 minutes morning/evening walk?

Taking no salt on 1 given day does not lower your BP instantly. All the preventive measures have to be followed in conjunction with regular medication.
It may also be that you being preoccupied with your BP level might have a part to play in your raised BP level. Just relax, let the medicines work.

However if you are regular with medicines and take the preventive measures as suggested by your physician you should consult your physician. You should get your BP checked as he suggests (may be about 3 times- 1 time each day for 3 days).

He may increase the dose of tab.telmisartan.

But self medication is not advisable. Please consult him if you are regula with medications.
