Suggest Medicine To Treat BP Without Weight Gain

Hi! I am currently taking 100 mg of Metoprolol Succinate ER. I have gained 7 lbs in the last 4 months. I have never had a weight issue...5ft 2 105 lbs is my normal weight. I am wondering what meds could be used to treat my BP WITHOUT weight gain? This is EXTREMELY important to me. I also get hives and nightmares since beginning this medicine.

Hi
Thanks for posting your query onHCM.
Metoprolol does not cause weight gain.
It can cause fatigue, weakness, slower heart rate, impotence and nightmares.

You may request your treating doctor for possible alternate medications like Sartans ( Telmisartan), or ACE inhibitors (Lisinopril(.
