Suggest Medicines To Lower Triglycerides And Cholesterol Level.
I have been diagnosed with Type IV Hypertriglycerdemia, after being hospitalized with Acute Pancreatitis due to elevated Triglycerides. Which medication would you think is better to lower the levels... Ascepa, Lovaza, or another? I also have extremely high cholesterol. Which would you say works best... Lipofen, Crestor, or another? I would greatly appreciate some advice. What a shame, I should have known when it said Ask Now, IT s FREE , was a scam. Nothings free anymore. I just wasted a good 25 minutes for nothing. Sad Sad Sad. I guess no answer tonight.
Dear Sir 1. The best option for reducing triglycerides is life style modification. This involves abstinence from alcohol, daily exercise, optimization of weight and relative reduction in saturated fats and carbohydrates. 2. If one is a non-vegetarian, Fish intake is recommended to reduce triglycerides. 3. Drug therapy for those who developed pancreatitis includes fibrates, omega 3 fatty acids etc. Role of STATINs (crestor like drugs) depends upon the amount of LDL cholesterol. You can take an exact prescription from your physician. 4. If one is diabetic, switching to insulin helps in reducing triglycerides level. Sincerely Sukhvinder
