Suggest Methods To Control Triglycerides And SGOT Levels

Hi doc,I have been suffering from high triglycerides (600+ for more than a year now). In annual check-up, I get all other things other than VLDL (125.8) SGOT (41) and SGPT (101) normal. I have also starting doing yoga for last 6 months. I am only 31 and am into research and consulting which requires 7-8 working on PC everyday (not sure of any co-relation). Please help me get the concerns under control.Amit

Hello!

Welcome on HCM!

It seems that you are suffering from severe hypertriglyceridemia.

In such case the first thing to do is life-style modification by switching to a healthy diet profile (Mediterranean or DASH diet), performing a lot of physical activity (at least 4 km/day walking or cycling, running. swimming, etc), avoiding close smoking contact, using no more than moderate alcoholic beverages, decreasing body weight.

If the above measurements doesn't achieve the desired results (to maintain your triglycerides level below 200 mg/dl, then it is necessary to start medication therapy. Coming to this point some alternatives are available:

- statins, fibrates, PCSK9 inhibitors, and n-3 PUFAs.

You need to discuss with your attending physician on the above issues.

Hope to have been helpful to you!

Kind regards,

Dr. Iliri
