Suggest Natural Alternative For Boniva

I am taking Boniva for osteoporosis and was put on it August 21 of this year. A month of this and I am getting pain in my neck and hips and body aches. I have had muscle spasms and cramps in my back and legs. My doctor told me I needed boniva because of severe osteoporosis. Is there a natural alternative?

I have gone thru query regarding your osteoprosis .But you have not mentioned your age which is essential for prescribing any remedy .

For your info , I must tell you Osteoporosis is usually caused by lack of exercise, an overly acidic diet, an imbalance in hormone functions and poor calcium absorption responsile to make our bones brittle.
It is not so much what we lack, but what we over-consume. Sodas, coffee, antacids, ,all rob our bones of magnesium and calcium , also harm our immune system which gives us resistance against diseases .

Above all Constipation is another enemy .

Osteoporosis medications may make your bones in follow-up x-ray films APPEAR better, This class of drugs,as Boniva, Fosamax, etc do not help build new bone.
One of the important strategies to achieve healthy body-- bones & muscles is a diet rich in fresh, raw whole foods .More of Fiber, fruit, egg fish ,fish oil for Omega 3, green leafy veges . Calcium with vitamin D & C, K2 are found in antioxideants -- as ginger ,garlic, fenugreek ,Lemon juice with water twice before meals , Aloe vera juice , bittergourd juice , Turmeric a level T spoon at bed time , almonds , in natural form is important all help inceasing immunity and strengthen bones .The biological role of vitamin K2 is to help more Calcium into the proper areas in your body.

1. Boniva [ibandronate] is a member of biphophonates class of drugs used for treating osteoporosis in women after menopause both orally and in intravenous form.
2. headache, back pain, pain in the legs or arms, nausea, stomach upset, diarrhea, and high blood pressure are common side effects seen with ibandronate, so your doctor is right in continuing with the drug.

3. Preventive Aspect which one can follow from Alternative point of view is:

i. Calcium intake; 1.0-1.5 g per day [banana, grapes,coriander, raisins, milk, green vegetables, lemon,mint,papaya,amla,guava,pineapple,turnip,tomato, apple,orange.

ii. Moderate Vitamin D intake: 400-800 IU per day or calcitriol 0.25~g/day
[ carot, beetroot,spianch,radish,mint,amalaki rasayan,soyabean,cucumber, cabbage,vitamin D fortified: pineapple/yogurt/milk/dry mushroom/banana/ cod liver oil/sunshine.
