Suggest Opinion About Bleeding And Blood Test To Check HCG Level
Hi, I am 5 weeks pregnant from last menstrual period. I had slight bleeding on monday and so I went to a&e, they then sent me for a scan but they couldn t find anything, but said I was definantly pregnant because of the thickness of my womb. So they sent me to have blood taken to check my hCG levels, and to rule out ectopic. The first test was at 80 then the second test which was done 48 hours later was 125, they said this is better as it is rising, but i have to go for another blood test in another 48 hours time, what could this mean? I m so confused and don t know whether to take it as a good sign or bad.
Hello dear,i understand your concern. In my opinion the HCG hormone level is more i normal pregnancy than in ectopic pregnancy. HCG level doubles every 48 hours which is seen in normal intrauterine pregnancy but HCG does not double in ectopic pregnancy. So the doctor advised you to go for HCG level testing after 48 hours. Also the transvaginal ultrasound might confirm the diagnosis whether it is ectopic or normal intrauterine pregnancy.Get the ultrasound done after a week or 10 days.
