Suggest Over The Counter Medication For Traveler's Diarrhea
1). Will be doing high altitude trekking in Nepal. Will have acetazolamide. 2). What Rx meds are available for "travelers diarrhea?" Or, are OTC options good enough? Plus, -- Interactions w/ other meds? (I take aspirin, Xalrelto, Niaspan, & simvastatin daily.)
HI Well come to HCM I appreciate your concern, only in obvious high altitude symptoms medicines is advisable and if you have something like that then you can have this medicine for traveler's diarrhea generally it may not need any treatment but care need to be taken for hydration it may be self limiting but some time "Lyophilized Lactobacillus" can be tried on prophylactic basis Doxycycline 100 mg twice in day for four to five days can be tried if you are taking some cardiac medicine then you can continue that it may not have any interaction hope this information helps.
