Suggest Pain Medication That Can Be Taken Along With Methotrexate

Hello my name is Albert and I am 30 years old and have sever Crohn s disease. I am currently taking methotrexate inter muscular and have been having lots of lower back pain and burning sensation while urinateing. I was wondering if there is any medication for pain relief I can take while on methotrexate that will not cause harmful side effects. I am also taking 40 mg of prednisone a day, and have not been able to go to the bathroom to evacuate my bowels since this morning.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I suggest using nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as Aspirin with methotrexate.

You'll probably take folic acid supplements along with methotrexate.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
