Suggest Pain Relievers For Chronic Pain From Scar Tissue In Lung Due To Pulmonary Embolism

What is the best pain relief option for chronic pain from scar tissue in the lung caused from pulmonary embolism? My wife had PE two years ago but still has shooting pains in her lungs. She really dislikes traditional pain meds. Marijuana has helped in the past. Should we stick to this or is there another option?

Thanks for your question on HCM. If pain frequency is increasing in nature I suggest you to get done repeat CT pulmonary Angiography as this may be the symptoms of worsening embolism.
Usually pain is due to pulmonary infarction. And subsides with time. But if worsening occurs, this causes new infarcts and more pain. So better to rule out this by repeat CT pulmonary angiography.
For pain relief you can give her centrally acting pain relievers like tramadol. Dont take marijuana. As it is habit forming.
