Suggest Permanent Treatment For Rheumatoid Arthritis

Good Morning , I have a question with regard to my mon s rheumatoid arthritis (she is around 61 yrs old). She got diagnosed with this issue around 5-6 yrs back and she started taking Medicine WYSOLONE-20. This seem to be helping but we came to know by a doctor that this medicine has some very adverse side effects. We tried reducing the dose and here is the tablet routine: for 4 years                               : 1 Tab per day From Dec 14 to April 15 (5 months)      : 1/2 tablet per day Last 2 month                              : 1/2 tablet alternate days last 1 month                               : 1/2 tablet in 2 days Right now : 1/2 tablet in 5 days Now the issue is, she is ok for first 2 days but gets her pain back from 3rd day onwards. Not sure if we are going in right direction hence thought of seeking the expert advise.. Can you please suggest some permanent cure for this ? Massage therepy / Medicine or something else. Thanks in advance, Ashutosh

Hi,

Assuming that the diagnosis is correct, she is not being treated appropriately. Rheumatoid Arthritis should not be only treated with steroids (Wysolone). The main treatment for Rheumatoid Arthritis are DMARDs (Disease-Modifying Anti-Rheumatic Drug). These drugs are the standard of care to treat Rheumatoid Arthritis. These medications include: Methotrexate, Sulfasalazine, Cyclosporine, etc. Steroids should not be used long-term as they can cause many side-effects and damage. There is no permanent cure for Rheumatoid Arthritis. The treatment though is the use of DMARDs.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
