Hi,
My name is Dalida Guezouli, I am 38 years old. I had two surgery in the past, one 1995 on the left hand for carpal tunnel and another one in 1999 for the right hand with carpal tunnel too.
In 2008 I suffered from a tenosynovitis de de Quervain, I did have a surgery this year on the 12 of march 2010, since I am having more pain and trouble than before, I canâ??t bend my wrist no more than 35 degrees.
They ask me to have an x-ray which I have done and reveal nothing, I did have a blood test that did reveal nothing too, so I did a bone scan and here the report of it word by word from the form.
History:
Ten weeks post right dorsal compartment release. Diffuse pain right wrist. Normal x-ray.
Findings:The patient was given 950MBq 99mTc-Methylene Disphosphonate i.v. and blood flow and blood pool images of the hands and wrist showed only minimally increased blood pooling in the right wrist region.
Delayed static pain images were required of the hands and wrist from palmar and dorsal views. Diffusely increased uptake was seen throughout the right wrist/carpal region, involving ulno- and radio-carpal joints, intercarpal joints and CMC joints. Moderately increased uptake was also seen in the 2nd to 4th MCP joints. Low grade uptake was seen in the PIP joints.
Opinion:
Abnormal appearance of the right hand and wrist may relate to an inflammatory synovitis, although the relatively normal blood pool images is against this. The possibility of a reflex sympathetic syndrome should also be considered.
What I want to know, itâ??s how can I treat this? Because the surgeon is not giving any answer of my condition and for this reason I am not going back to see him again for sure. I realize when I am wearing a splint at night because I am having more pain at night during my sleep I am having less pain and can sleep but the hand therapist is against this idea.
My GP did try to treat me with Prednisone tablets but I am having more pain by taking them and the bad effects too, so we stopped them.
I canâ??t work but living at home and doing my duties as any women doesnâ??t help my situation.
Do you think I should wear a splint for a little while for this inflammation to go away?
Thank you for reading me.
Regards,
Dalida Guezouli
